My interviewed person was a secretary Some of the responsibilities associated with her position are answering telephone calls, maintaining logs, arranging appointments, taking messages, typing, filing, organizing and servicing meetings, prioritizing workloads, training, handling correspondence, implementing new procedures and administrative systems, liaising with relevant organizations, coordinating mail and other similar tasks.

2. What are the types of knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed to successfully accomplish the job responsibilities?

To successfully accomplish the job responsibilities, a secretary must have some key abilities like interpersonal skills, team working, organizational skills, negotiation skills, assertiveness, time management, decision making and problem solving skills, and communication skills.

In some secretary positions, formal academic qualifications are not always needed, although a degree in business, information science, administration or management may be helpful. Previous office work experience can also be useful. It is vital to have good administrative skills.

3. Does the position require any physical tasks? If so, describe the physical tasks and state their frequency. Is there any additional information about the job that would be beneficial to include in the job description?

A secretary spend most of the time in an office environment, sitting on a desk. Usually the only physical task they do is lifting documents, files or boxes.
