Question #1 2 pages

Application and Analysis: PAPM Model

You will complete this assignment after reviewing Chapter 6 in theHealth Behavior Theory textbook and the PAPM article linked under the Additional Supplemental Materials section for this week. Also, retrieve two additional articles that discuss the use of the PAPM.

Produce a Microsoft Word document in which you:

1. Explain how the PAPM model was used to address planning and intervention characteristics in the Costanza et al. (2009) article.

2. Determine and explain if the use of the model made sense based on the description of the model in the appropriate textbook chapter and supplemental materials.

3. In review of your chosen secondary articles, how did the application of the model differ between the interventions? In your opinion, is one application a better use of the model than the other? Explain.

Feel free to copy and paste these questions into your document, developing your answers under each question. Please support your discussion by citing references using APA style (6th Edition) formatting. Please limit your responses to no more than three pages, double-spaced.

Final Research Project Outline

Develop a formal outline describing the basic elements of the Final Project's components. This outline is designed to show how you plan to explain your behavior, justify your theoretical choice and apply this relationship to a health promotion program. Refer to the Week 7 section for more details about the Final Project.

Project Topic

Change Target: Alcohol use among adolescents

Theory or Model: Health Belief Model

Description: The health belief model has two constructs that influence change, perceived threat and expected net gain. I plan on educating adolescents on the threats, consequences, and outcomes of long term use of alcohol creating a high level of perceived threat. If high levels of perceived threat are combined with low levels of modifying factors and high net gains, the likelihood of change is increased. Alcohol Use Moderate alcohol consumption has been linked to positive health outcomes. However, high alcohol consumption has been linked to a range of negative health outcomes including high blood pressure, heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver. High levels of alcohol consumption have also been associated with accidents, injuries, suicides, crime, domestic violence, rape, murder and unsafe sex (Case, S. 2007). While many of the adverse effects of high alcohol consumption are due to continued heavy drinking (e.g., cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease), others are more specifically related to excessive alcohol consumption in a single drinking session (e.g., accidents, violence).
