Term Paper Assignment
Over the course of the semester, we will be covering a variety of psychological disorders. You will choose a psychological disorder found in the DSM-V. Using at least 5 sources (i.e., journal articles, books, and the DSM-V), you will write a 7 to 10-page paper that is to be typed, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and size 12 font, making sure to answer ALL of the following items:
- Describe, IN DETAIL, the diagnostic features of the disorder (i.e., what are the signs and symptoms) AND explain how the disorder is diagnosed. For example, would you use laboratory tests, autopsy, cognitive testing etc.
- Describe, IN DETAIL, at least 2 theories of what may cause the disorder (i.e., biological, psychoanalytic, cognitive, behavioral etc.). Describe, IN DETAIL, at least 2 different types of treatment used for the disorder and discuss how effective the current treatments are.
- Choose two famous individuals who you believe meet criteria to be diagnosed with the disorder you have chosen and EXPLAIN WHY you believe these individuals suffer from the chosen psychological disorder. You must provide specific examples to support your theory.
- APA formatting regarding references counts. I will post a handout on the website detailing how to cite references. Overall grammar & style counts as well!
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
