explain glucocorticoids the adrenal cortex

Explain Glucocorticoids

The adrenal cortex secretes the glucocorticoids which  increase gluconeogenesis by increasing hepatic intake of amino acids accompanied by increased activity  of enzymes of gluconeogenesis, as well as, of transaminases. Glucocorticoids also inhibit utilization of glucose  in extra  hepatic tissues. The net effect  is one of increasing blood sugar  level.
