Explain distributions for female sharks

Assignment Task: Great white sharks

Great white sharks are known as one of the fastest predators in the ocean. In South Africa, sharks are known to hunt seals off the coast of the Western Cape. The shark will attack the seal from below, hitting the seal in the middle of their body. Due to the speed that the sharks approach the seal, they often come out of the water and appear to be breaching. If a shark misses its prey, it will chase the seal. A study was conducted to see if there is a difference in the speed that sharks approach seals based on sex.

Q1. What is a suitable null hypothesis for this study?

Q2. Use the data provided to produce frequency distributions of each sex and a table of descriptive statistics. All graphs and tables must be appropriately formatted.

Q3. Comment on the distributions.

Q4. Using the information presented in the table, describe and compare the speed of male and female Great White Sharks while hunting.

Q4. Only using cases of adult sharks, produce a frequency distribution and a table of descriptive statistics for female sharks.

Q5. Compare and explain the differences between the distributions for female sharks (all age classes vs adults).
