Explain Brake and Electrical Horsepower
Brake horsepower (bhp) = whp/pump efficiency
Electrical or motor horsepower (ehp) or (mhp) = bhp/motor efficiency
Friction of heat horsepower (fhp) = bhp - whp
NOTE: In centrifugal pump problems, the highest horsepower is mhp. To solve typical problems you must start by determining the whp (equations in the table) and using the pump and motor efficiencies, solve for bhp, mhp and/or fhp.
