One day, to your horror, an expensive 300-kg satellite orbiting at a height of 2000 km above the Earth surface has a freak accident with an old abandoned 100-kg satellite that was traveling in the identical orbit but in the opposite direction. After the collision, the two satellites move on, locked together as a single piece of junk. You are asked to quickly investigate and report to your company CEO if the junk will crash into the Earth during its subsequent motion. What would you say and how would you justify your conclusions?
