Thank you for sharing your experiences with the California Child Welfare system. I see the same shortcomings here in New York, it's disheartening and frustrating for the children and families we serve. I agree that frequent placements can lead to racism, socioeconomic biases, and stigmas centered around foster care. As you stated, all this impacts on the individual's overall well-being (Pecora et al., 2006). Plus, it can further lead to trauma and mental health issues as you mentioned. It seems like a very difficult cycle to have to break as a social worker. Or redundant to educate others in the effects and biases people have. This is advocacy and it's not always going to be easy.
