1. Discuss the meaning of the following: People may be directly affected by decisions made by others.
2. Discuss instances when dependence is appropriate and instances when it becomes harmful to a person.
3. Discuss ways that children, even as married adults, may be dependent on their parents.
4. Brainstorm a list of problems that occur as adolescents become independent. These problems may relate to the teenager's room, the way he or she looks or dresses, the use of the telephone, household chores, television privileges or other problem situations.
5. Think of common examples of unrequested advice and attention parents give teenagers. How does this advice and attention affect the way teenagers assume responsibilities?
