A communicable disease outbreak to examine is Nipah virus infection, an emerging zoonotic illness identified in 1998 and primarily affecting parts of South and Southeast Asia. In addition, crowded living conditions and caregiving practices increase the risk of human to human transmission, particularly among family members and healthcare workers (WHO, 2026b).
