Homework: Employment Law
Using the Library Information Resource Network (LIRN), JSTOR, or any other electronic journal database, research six peer-reviewed articles that can be used to answer your upcoming homework. Your discussion should summarize the articles in such a way that it can justify any arguments you may present in your PA 2 homework and should be different from the abstract. In addition to your researched peer-reviewed article, you must include an example of the article researched as it is applied by industry (company, business entity, and so forth).
Professional Task
Write a 3 to 5 pages paper address the following:
i. Describe and discuss the differences between an "employee" and an "independent contractor."
ii. Examine the labor laws that frame such categories. Illustrate how one can distinguish the two, and give real examples from one's experience.
iii. Describe the type of work performed.
iv. If you experienced both, which position do you prefer, employee or independent contractor?
v. Explain why, and what are the advantages and disadvantages you experienced.
vi. If you do not have the experience, provide examples from the literature. Also, use the literature to highlight such differences.
vii. Make sure you have at least six (6) peer-reviewed sources, as well as one of which being the U.S. Department of Labor website.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
