The purpose of this paper is to examine the formation of identity by breaking down a person or character(s).
This paper can focus on a character in literature or examine the formation of identity of a real person, a character in film or television, or a person/character in another medium (would advise pre-approval for this option).
For a literary analysis of identity, pay close attention to any descriptions of a character, interactions with other characters, actions and reactions of the character, any thoughts or mindsets of the character provided, how other characters view the character, and other literary elements that might represent an emotional or psychological state of the character (symbolism, setting, imagery, and so on).
Consider questions such as: Most of these questions, as well as the elements for consideration in the above paragraph, will also apply to a character in film and television and, often, to real people. Sometimes in film and television, it's helpful to also look at what "type" of person the character is or what role does he/she play.
Some helpful questions could be: Many of these questions and considerations can lead to a good analysis of a real person. You'll probably want to focus more on the background and history (biography) of real people and look for insights there.
No matter what you choose as your subject, incorporating or at least considering one or more of the psychological theories may be of great help in discovering the make-up of your subject. With all that said, here is what it required: 4-6 pages, double-spaced, in a standard font A minimum of 3 sources beyond the primary work (story, film, television show, etc.)
A focused and overt thesis statement, which is analytical in nature-one clear idea that you develop throughout the essay-and which focuses on the assignment topic (the formation of identity).
