Social Change
This course examines social change in the U.S. and abroad. The course also examines the role of business, nonprofit organizations, and the public sector in addressing social problems. Topics studied may include the Civil Rights Movement, environmental issues, education reform, and health policy. The goals of the course are
1) to expose students to social change, social movements, and contemporary social problems;
2) to understand the role of businesses, nonprofit organizations, and the public sector in addressing social problems;
3) to understand institutional structures and contemporary issues related to social change; and
4) to improve student research, writing, and critical thinking skills.
