Assume that you are a staff officer in the Department of Transportation. Your new supervisor understands the trucking industry, but is inexperienced in rail transportation. Assess the security of rail transportation in the United States. Provide your supervisor with a written evaluation of the rail network. Be sure to address the following issues in your evaluation:
Examine passenger travel and security measures.
Differentiate commuter versus long haul passenger travel.
Explain proper cargo security.
Interpret the security of railroad yards versus the rail line.
Support your evaluation with at least five scholarly or professional resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
