Forensic scientists are called upon to examine an almost endless variety of different types of physical evidence. Much of this evidence is composed of organic matter.
In this week's Seminar, be prepared to discuss the organic analytical techniques used by forensic scientists to identify and compare such widely diverse substances as drugs, paint, ink, textile fibers, flammable liquids and proteins.

Topic 2-The Scientific Method as Applied to Fingerprints
The scientific method is a logical approach to solving problems. Fingerprint examiners apply the scientific method to the analysis of latent prints using the ACE-V method. This Seminar will address some important questions, such as:
· Has the scientific theory or technique been empirically tested?
· Has it been subjected to peer review?
· Do standards exist for controlling the use of the scientific technique?
· Is there general acceptance of the technique by the scientific community?
