Ever since its publication, Huckleberry Finn has been attacked as racist by librarians, school boards, and angry parents. However, most of these attacks miss the whole point of the novel as Twain imagined it. According to Twain, the main point was to show how a good-hearted boy was able overcome the racism of the society in which he lived through his friendship with Jim. In fact Jim becomes a father figure and role model for a white boy whose own father was abusive. In a paragraph of about 150 words argue to a school board, why you think this novel teaches the right values, not the wrong ones and use examples from the book as evidence.
