Paper instructions:
Report is to be written in narrative form
Summarize the events of a recent accounting scandal. Students will identify how the illegal/unethical act was detected and the punishments that resulted (fines, prison terms etc.).
INCLUDE/ADDRESS:
Critical Thinking/Discussion: consider what could have been done to detect this act earlier and what could have been done to prevent this from happening in the first place. Include material pertaining to ethics, GAAP, principles and assumptions of accounting, importance of accounting to decision makers (both internal and external,) the value and necessity of accounting for making business decisions, and the reasons for/effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) on businesses.
Keep in mind that I am looking for your thoughts and opinions, not just regurgitation of facts.
The analysis and assertions in your paper should be backed up with sound logic and references. All papers will be required to include sources and reference page.
All references are to be cited using the American Psychology Association (APA) format.
