Though in all fairness Reconstruction had to start somewhere, and lead to more rights(I.E. Women's rights). Therefore I can see why some people would see it as a revolution half begun. Reconstruction started out as a fight for freedom, The book quotes Garrison Frazier defining freedom as "placing us where we could reap the fruit of our own labor, and take care of ourselves"( Eric Foner). This is not something that was instantly accomplished. Even with slavery abolished it was very complicated for former slaves to find a job. When a job was found the "salary" given was still very unfair. Though slavery was abolished there were multiple things holding previous slaves back from living a truly free life.
