Evaluating progress and current state of electronic record


Assignment Task: The tracking of accurate patient records has been a continual problem for decades.  While many providers now utilize electronic record keeping, there is still room for improvement.  Many providers use different software programs / formats, making record sharing across providers often difficult.  Attached is a recently published article from Health Affairs (one of the most read publications by healthcare executives), evaluating the progress and current state of electronic record keeping and sharing.  After reading the article, discuss what impact you believe this is having on the delivery of healthcare. Also, what suggestions would you have for policy makers and/or healthcare organizations to improve the situation further?
