Evaluating a research paper

Hi all,

This week, we were asked to put ourselves in the shoes of a professor and asked to evaluate a research paper. For me, if I was a professor you I would start by doing some research of the members topic and read through the citations provided to see if they are credible and relate to the topic. Next, I would go over the hypothesis and see if it makes sense for the research question looking to be answered. Then I would go through the different pages and paragraphs to see the supporting details for the research question and see if they work for the paper and will untimely answer the question.  To me, when it comes to viewing certain elements of the research paper above others I Would look for the key details of each paragraph. Each paragraph should have certain details and facts that would support the hypothesis and answer the research question. These elements are important because they are the foundation of your hypothesis and will give you the support to answer your research question.

Basic English writing skills is best defined from the writing skills which are Proper Spelling and Punctuation Marks, Good Reading Comprehension, Sentence and Paragraph Structure, Knowledge of Different Types of Writing, Editing and Rewriting. The difference with the basic English writing skills and demonstrating content knowledge is the ability to write out your knowledge of the topic rather than being able to explain it. Without the skills of basic English it would be difficult to properly write out your knowledge of the topic you are attempting to discuss.
