Ethnic diversity is significant in sub-Saharan Africa. This exercise will ask you to compare and contrast five prominent ethnic groups in the region:
• Yorubas
• Zulus
• Dogons
• Diolas
• Bembas
Please complete the following questions for your analysis.
1. The spatial distribution of these ethnic groups may or may not cross international borders. In the table below, identify the most prominent countries in which each of these ethnic groups reside (limit your responses to a maximum of three (3) countries for each).

2. In a few paragraphs (approx. 150 - 200 words), compare and contrast the common features of their traditional costumes (e.g., headwear, musical instruments, articles of clothing, fabric patterns/designs, weapons, etc.)
3. Choose two (2) of the ethnic groups and compare/contrast one (1) main characteristic between them (e.g., economics, residential, occupational, family life, etc.). This analysis should be accomplished in two paragraphs, one comparing, one contrasting the characteristic between your two chosen ethic groups.
4. List the sources that you used in your analysis.
