Solve the following problem:

Q: For the 40°C water flow in Fig estimate the volume flow through the pipe, assuming no losses; then explain what is wrong with this seemingly innocent question. If the actual flow rate is Q = 40 m3/h, compute

(a) the head loss in ft and

(b) the constriction diameter D which causes cavitation, assuming that the throat divides the head loss equally and that changing the constriction causes no additional losses.
