In this paper you have to select components to build a low-noise and low-power desktop computer which will primarily be used in reading e-mails, preparing documents/reports, browsing web, and occasionally watchingYouTube videos. It will certainly not be used to play games!
A dual- or quad-core CPU with minimum 2.5 GHz clock is preferred. Your selection should include a CPU, a graphics card if necessary, motherboard, at least 4 GB memory, a magnetic or solid-state disk with minimum capacity 250 GB, a power supply, a cooling/ventilation system if necessary, and a computer case.
For each of the components, list the product name, vendor, and power consumption as well as summarize the product specification. Estimate how much idle and full load power each of the components as well as the computer will consume. List all the references including web-pages from where you have collected information for this report.
Calculate in dollars how much saving the low-power computer will result if it is used for five years.
Estimate the cost of any additional components and supplies needed to build the computer and calculate its total cost.
