Equilibrium conditions:

What are equilibrium conditions for non concurrent force system?

Sol.: For the Equilibrium of non concurrent forces there are three conditions:

1. The sum of all the horizontal forces is equal to zero, that is

    H = 0

2. The sum of all the horizontal forces is equal to zero, that is

    V = 0

3. Sum of the moment of all the forces about any point is equal to zero, that is

      M = 0

If any of the conditions is not fulfilled then the body won't be in equilibrium.

 Define equilibrant.

Sol.: The force that brings the set of forces in equilibrium is called as equilibrant. As a matter of fact, the equilibrant is equal to resultant force in the magnitude, but opposite in nature.
