Environmental policy for behavior

Protecting the environment is a much difficult undertaking, and most of the Americans and politicians disagree with one another over how best to do so and what role (if any) the government must play in doing so. Though much focus is on the extent to which the government must regulate manufacturers, individuals might or might not make efforts to decrease their impact on the environment. Should the government enact policies designed to bring regarding certain behaviors by individuals (example: requiring people to recycle, awarding tax credits to families purchasing fuel-efficient vehicles and so on)? Explain why or why not? What policies would you support?

Just a simple paragraph is required.
