For this assignment you are to write as the environmental manager of your chosen organisation. You have been asked by the board of directors to improve the environmental credentials of your organisation. Specifically you have been asked to present a management report to the board and this is the form this assignment takes. You must choose one specific area, review a particular environmental challenge (or opportunity) and develop a business case for how to address the challenge and avoid ‘business as usual’. This assignment is an opportunity for you to apply the information and issues raised in this module to a specific business case and take into account both the theoretical ideals and the practical ‘real-life’ constraints and context that business faces and operates in.
In completing this assignment you should consider issues of organisational learning and change management, scenario planning and strategy. This assignment is to help you engage with the whole breadth of material in Green Business but especially Unit 3, which has explored some of the options available for businesses in responding to the environmental challenge, and Unit 4 that raises questions about strategy and the future direction of business.
The form of this assignment should take that of a management report rather than an academic essay, however normal referencing rules apply and you will expected to appropriately reference your arguments and demonstrate awareness of relevant literature.
