Energy Cycle of Living Being
Source of energy :All matter locks energy in the from of bonds between component molecules and atoms. This energy is the chemical energy. All organisms totally depend upon this chemical energy of matter for their energy requirements since however the matter used by organisms is not unlimited in nature chemical energy cannot be the ultimate source of energy for organisms The ultimate source of energy is in fact the light energy of sunrays ,Green plants absorb solar energy with the help of their chlorophyll and lock into c or c h bonds . synthesize carbohydrates in a process called photosynthesis From carbohydrates, the green plants also synthesize other important substances needed by all organisms. This the energy used by all organisms is ultimately the solar energy which is being continuously harnessed by green plants regenerating the matter from whose breakdown all organisms derive this energy in the from chemical energy.
Animals are without chlorophyll. Hence these cannot absorb and harness solar energy. These therefore depend upon plants for the supply of all materials these use. Thus green plants are producers of the matter used by organisms and non green plants and animals are consumers.
