Employees Of Non-Profit Organizations' Experience In Facilitating Social Connectedness Among African Refugees

 Problem statement.

The situation or issue that prompted me to search the literature is that social connectedness is fundamental to the well-being of African refugees, who frequently encounter barriers such as cultural differences, language obstacles, and systemic challenges that contribute to social isolation. Insufficient social connectedness has a significant impact on mental health, increasing the risk of depression, anxiety, and social withdrawal. Enhancing social connections can facilitate access to community resources, employment opportunities, and social support, all of which are critical for successful integration into a new country. Although previous studies, including those by Nguyen et al. (2024) and Baillet et al. (2023), have emphasized the importance of social networks and psychosocial interventions, there remains a lack of detailed examination regarding the facilitatory roles of non-profit staff.

Stakeholders, including non-profit organizations, local governments, and community leaders, have a vested interest in the findings of this study. Strengthening social connectedness among African refugees can result in improved outcomes, reduced community tensions, and greater social cohesion. Krasniqi (2024) underscores the importance of creating a participatory environment where refugees feel safe, trusted, and empowered. Insights into how non-profit employees foster these connections can inform best practices, enhance program effectiveness, and support funding initiatives. By clarifying these experiences, this research will provide a valuable resource for stakeholders aiming to improve the integration and overall well-being of African refugees within their communities.
