In Buede, Chapter 1, review the Sidebar and Case Study inserts that discuss events related to systems engineering. Such as;
- Sidebar 1.1 - history of systems engineering
- Sidebar 1.2 - applying systems engineering
- Case Study: Hubble Telescope Testing Decisions
- Case Study: Air Bag Restraint System
- Case Study: Apollo 13 Disaster
Prepare a Project Design Document that includes:
Write a new 2-3 page Sidebar or Case Study in MS Word (or equivalent) document format that discusses an application of Systems Engineering as related to a project topic that will form the basis for your project report. This project discussion can address a need, refinement, success, benefit, problem, or concern that can be linked to at least one aspect of Systems Engineering based on topics discussed in sections of Chap. 1 (listed below). Delete the topics that do not apply to your case study, and use the remaining topics as the focus for your case study;

Your discussion can be based on an experience, an observation, an opinion, etc. related to your project topic. The discussion should relate to or build upon at least one, and preferably multiple concepts in Chap. 1. The objective is not to present a solution, but to discuss aspects of Systems Engineering related to your project topic.
