1. It is a disease seen all over the world.
2. The adult worm lives in the lymph glands and the lymph vessels of man.
3. As the number of worms increases, they block the lymph vessels and cause swelling of the glands and the lymph vessels. Thus there is enormous in crease of size in the lymph tissue. This is called Filariasis.
4. This type of swelling is usually found in the legs, arms and various other body parts.
5. This disease is spread through the infected female culex mosquito mainly during nights.
6. The larvae comes on the superficial parts of the body. When the mosquito bites the infected man, larvae enter into mosquito.
7. In mosquito changes take place with the formation of microfilaria.
8. When the infected mosquito bites a healthy person, these larvae enter into lymph vessels of that person. The incubation period is 5 to 18 months.
