2. From what the narrator tells us, and from her own conversation, describe the character of Elisa Allen. What is her relationship with her husband?
3. What is the primary conflict of the story? What happens to exacerbate this conflict? How is it resolved?
4. "The Chrysanthemums" is a story rich with symbolism. How many symbols can you locate? Make a list and then write a paragraph analyzing the meaning of each (or a few) of the items on your list. Be sure to support your claims with evidence from the story.
