Electric fields on the other hand start on positive charges

Solve the following problem given below:

Problem: Electric fields, on the other hand, start on positive charges and end on negative charges. While field lines are pictured as coming out of a north pole and entering a south pole they neither originate on the North Pole nor end on the South Pole. They connect in between. So if you had a bar magnet with a north pole on one end and a south pole on the other, why not just saw off the South Pole? Also what's this stuff about conservative fields anyway?

Please keep answer for above problem short and simple and please no copy and paste. Thanks.
