The core assessment for this course is a written essay comparing and contrasting the approaches to criminal procedure by the U.S. Supreme Court under both Chief Justices Earl Warren and William Rehnquist. In Unit 1 you were given this topic.

For this assignment, you need to complete a rough draft of your core assessment. Please review the requirements of the assignment.
The essay should address:
• their significant decisions and the effects they had on the balance between social order maintenance and individual liberties.
• the effects of the Supreme Court's decisions on law enforcement in the United States.
• the Supreme Courts current approach to balancing civil liberties against public order maintenance.
Caution: Do not get sidetracked by the landmark court decisions that do not reflect criminal procedure. Brown v. the Board of Education and Roe V. Wade are cases of monumental importance, but they are not criminal procedure decisions.
The essay must include:
