Abstract
Many public schools require all students to wear uniforms to prevent criticism in one another because some parents do not have the funds to buy brand clothing and some do. By wearing uniforms it will lower the percentage on bullying and every kid will wear the same colors and same uniform. It will also help parents save money, or use the money in most important and necessary things for their household like for instance FOOD.
Introduction
There have been many controversies on school uniforms in public schools. The question is if uniforms are good or bad? There is many reasons why students should use school uniforms. One of the reasons to have uniforms is to help the prevention in violence and also it would prevent some students feel better than others just because they wear more expensive clothing than those who their parents can't afford very expensive clothing. This would also help lower the cost in parents.
There are many reasons for school uniforms to be an excellent idea. Can you name one? Well for instance with the dress code for uniforms in some of the public schools students will focus more on books instead of the way they look or if they have better clothing than others. (A. Carter, 1994) This are also less expenses on the parents list, we have less judgement on whose wearing the prettiest, coolest or most expensive clothing. (L. Tarshis, 2011)
Kids won't complain to parents about having nothing to wear or that they need more clothing because they used those outfits last month. This would also be fewer hassles in the mornings trying to pick an outfit. By being able to wear school uniforms kids do not have to rush in the mornings wasting time thinking what would look pretty or if he/she would get a lot of attention in school, it would be easier on kids to just wake up and put their uniforms and only worry about their hair or shoes.
There are several schools around my area that also require for each student to pay one dollar if they want to wear free dress day on Friday's, but it is not free of course and they have to check everything a student wears in order for students to enter the school, this is why I truly believe they should stop free Friday's and wear the uniforms five days a week, which is every day.
Conclusion
I truly believe school uniforms in public schools have made changes of self-esteem in some of the students because there is less criticism and they are not afraid or embarrassed to go to school with old clothing because that's only what their parents can afford to give them. School uniforms are also a way to keep gangs away from school learnings because we won't see little groups of students wearing gang color clothing, or trying to act like gangsters.
