Without healthy coral, many fish and other marine animals lose their homes and food sources, which can lead to the decline of the entire reef ecosystem. To fix this damage, actions such as reducing pollution, protecting marine areas, and addressing climate change are needed. People can also help by restoring coral reefs, for example by growing coral in labs and replanting it in damaged areas. However, not all effects can be undone.
