Every organization has current leaders and emerging leaders. During your multiple contacts with the organization, you will have met at least two people, and likely more.
Please appreciatively take a look at your principal and the other staff person you interviewed, from the perspective of assessing their leadership talent.
I would use the Big 5 factors as your criteria (Openness it inquiry/experience, Conscientiousness, extraversion/communication skills, agreeableness/tact, and stability under stress/non-neurotic, and the 6th new one called honesty/humility).
Lastly, look around your organization and identify at least one person, not currently in a major leadership role, whom you believe "has what it takes" and should be considered for a future leadership role. Tell me why. That's the scoop!
