driving mechanism i knurl or friction

Driving mechanism

I). Knurl or Friction Drive:  This has either the upper or lower electrode (or both) driven by a friction wheel on the periphery of the electrode. A constant speed is maintained regardless of the electrode diameter.

II). Gear Drive:  The speed decreses as the electrode wears. For seam welding of the continer switch small diameter, this drive is effective.
