Realistic Play Analysis Form

This is a drama show analysis. All the requirements are attached. and this is a youtube video to help you understand requirements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTNPL9ImluE&feature=youtu.be

You should be better to find a drama show to be analyzed. The live show is better.

I expect you to write roughly 600-800 words, and no question should be answered with fewer than 50 words.

Setting (Time and place of the depicted story):

1. Summary: Give a brief summary of the play (100-200 words). Be sure to mention the key characters, events, plot points, and meanings.

2. Story Becomes Plot: Give an example of where the plot differs from the story. That is, describe an event that is presented (through description or depiction) out of sequence. Speculate about what effect this produces in the audience.

3. Theme: What is the theme of the play? (A theme answers the question ‘What is the play about?' without referring to the action in the play. It is the ‘unifying subject' of the work. ) Provide at least three examples of how the theme arises in the play through plot, character, imagery, etc.

4. Dramatic Gestures: In addition to words, actors use gestures to reveal character and help tell the story. List three dramatic gestures in the play. For each, describe what you as an audience member learned about the character or plot from the gesture. Make sure you are listing gestures and not larger events or plot points.

5. Production Elements: This production, being realistic, purported to present life as it ‘really' is, but even realistic production elements are chosen because they express something to the audience. Give two examples of production elements (set, costumes, lights, props, sound, etc.) that were especially expressive. Describe the element in detail and explain what this element conveyed to the audience. (Note that this question focuses on production elements, not plot points or acting.)

6. Personal Reaction: Did you like the play? Examine your reaction and figure out why you liked or did not like the play. Give examples from the play.
