A several questions to consider:
1) What do you think about Latin America as a distinct cultural-linguistic area of study?
2) Does the idea of "Latin" America exclude Brazil or Haiti? What about Jamaica?
3) Do you agree with Drake and Hilbink that there is still value in studying Latin America from the Area Studies perspective?
4) What are the advantages of studying from an "Atlantic" perspective rather than just a "Latin American" perspective?
