Problem: Complete a research series for the Moon similar to the series for the Sun outlined in the first Lesson of this Unit.
Question: Does the Moon's point of arising on my local eastern horizon change over one month?
Preparation
A. Choose a convenient spot to stand from which all observations will be made. Use the attached document to track your observations.
B. As in the first Lesson, draw the same prominent landmarks on your local eastern horizon in every rectangle where observations will be recorded. (See blank form.)
C. Consistently stand in your chosen spot. It is recommended you begin your observations at the first quarter. (Consult a calendar showing lunar phases.) You will find the arising will vary significantly over a month. Arrange your schedule accordingly.
D. Follow the format given in the first Lesson for completing your report. Be especially careful to include any inferences and predictions that may be relevant.
