Essay: Does language determine our thoughts and reality? That is: do we need language to think, or do we think in pictures? Think of the word "home" and how much meaning it has for you, and how many images and how much feeling it creates for you. Is this all happening because you hear those 4 little letters (h, o, m, e)?
Also, if you agree that our thoughts are determined by language, then what do you think about people who speak a different language from us? Do you think that their thinking or reality would be different than ours because they speak a different language? Does the word "house," "la casa," or "la maison," for example, have the same meaning or conjure up the same feelings in every language?
