Does johnny have grounds for successful legal action

Assignment task:

Johnny is a sixteen-year-old high school student who works part-time at the local grocery store. After school, every day, he goes to the grocery store to complete his shift. Johnny enjoys his job and takes great pride in completing the work to the best of his ability. After six months of working at the grocery store, his manager says, "You've done a great job working here. Due to your past hard work and commitment, I'll give you a management position with a raise eventually". Johnny is very excited to hear this and continues to work hard at the grocery store, devoting all of his free time to the store for several more years. During this period, the manager that promised Johnny the managerial position unexpectedly retires from the store, failing to fulfill his promises made to Johnny. Shortly after, Johnny completes high school and realizes he needs a full-time job to support himself. Johnny confronts his new manager, who must be made aware of the promises made, and asks for the priorly promised managerial position within the grocery store. The manager, caught off guard, informs Johnny that the store does not need a new administrative member but would consider him when a position opens. Johnny throws a tantrum because of the news and threatens legal action against the former manager, current manager, and the corporation if he does not receive a managerial position for his past hard work and dedication to the company. Does Johnny have grounds for successful legal action against the former manager, current manager, or the corporation itself?
