1) Does your intro have a good "hook"?
2) Does your intro have an inverted triangle structure (starting with the broadest ideas and then narrowing down to your main idea)?
3) Does your intro provide a "road map" for what the reader should expect to read in the rest of the paper?
4) Does each of your body paragraphs have a clear topic sentence?
5) Do you provide plenty of concrete, specific examples of the points you are trying to make?
6) Are your paragraphs balanced, or are they too long or too short?
7) Does your conclusion sum up your argument and explain its difficulty (in this case, why this essay is essential to you, the writer)?
