The CEO You are the CEO of a midsize producer of a popular line of kitchen appliances and with the economic recession, you need to close some plants in China. You decide to close a plant in a region that will likely be very affected by the decision: most of the region's residents will lose their jobs and there is a high likelihood of unrest. She soon realizes that a foreign assignment is necessary if she wants to stay on the "fast track." She takes a job in Mexico and starts running into difficulties after a month. She finds it difficult to be effective dealing with the Mexican clients as they appear reluctant to respect her authority. Her boss also refers to her as "my cute assistant" and "our lady banker." She raises the issue with her boss who replies "Our clients don't understand women in authority. As long as you play along, we should be fine. I am willing to give you more responsibility but we need to tread carefully with clients." If you were Sara, what would you do?
