Television and other news sources often cover cases where a parent has been charged with child abuse for physically disciplining their child.
In many of these cases a switch or belt is used, and there is some visible injury on the child. Based on the child abuse law in your state(California) and not just your opinion, write a paper answering the following questions:
Can and should a parent in your state be criminally liable for disciplining their child in such a manner?
What factors and evidence should be considered in making this decision?
Does a parent have any constitutional or other legal rights that should be taken into consideration in such a case?
