Discussion Post: Pre-Modern War
Chapter three focused on the role of institutional, administrative, and organizational power plays in the development of disciplined and efficient military forces. In our modern era, all core nations have an inherent level of these powers and an argument could be made that many combative non-government organizations (think Al-Qaida or another terrorist organization) draw strength from a lack of these centralized powers.
Using what you have learned so far in this course. Do you think the role of organizational power in developing disciplined and efficient forces is still the most important aspect in the modern era? Why or why not? Use examples of modern conflicts to support your position. As a group, compile the evidence for and opposed to the importance of organizational power that your group discussed and provide a more comprehensive answer. Use examples that your group discussed to support the groups positions.
