Discusion
After a dozen years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the United States is slowly withdrawing its combat units from that troubled region of the world. Observers agree that much has been accomplished in this period but also that the costs have been high-over a trillion dollars spent and nearly seven thousand U.S. troops killed. Based on your understanding of these wars, do you think they were worth the cost, or do you think the United States would have been better off if it had chosen not to go to war? Do you have the same opinion of both wars, or do you feel differently about the Iraq war than about the Afghan war? Explain your answer.
