Distinguish cultural practice and things universally endowed

Problem: Can we draw a distinction between some things that are just cultural practices and things that are universally endowed? Is there a difference between mere cultural differences (dress, food, etc), and cases where there are extreme violations to what many take to be universal rights (rape, torture, slavery)?

You can also suggest good examples of :

- Universal principles (what do you think the minimum acceptable principles are?)

- Mere cultural practices (what are some prime examples of practices that seem to be clearly and uncontroversially culturally based and relative?)
