Discussion: One of the more important aspects for a manager in an organization is the reputation of the entity as we've read previously. Some of us may have read about systems thinking, positive reinforcing loops, or word-of-mouth multipliers in the past - the core takeaway from each is that positive reputation effects results in more business (free advertising) while negative reputation effects results both in lost customers and difficulty attracting new customers. Further, a tarnished reputation takes a long time to heal - an example is automobile quality, where some of the most reliable vehicles now long had reputations for being unreliable. Can you find other examples where a reputation (positive or negative) can - with evidence - be shown to differ from current results in an industry?
