Assignment: Private International Law
We switch gears to begin a discussion of private international law, which encompasses primarily international trade law. International trade law is the law that governs transactions between private entities across borders. It includes such subjects as import/ export or customs law, rules of origin, trade protection, and so forth. Your readings this week will give you an introduction to the subject matter, and I have also included two short videos that visually demonstrate the importance of trade law in our understanding of commerce in general, as well as politics and development.
Discuss the following:
Globalization has brought tremendous change and growth to many countries, but the benefits of increased trade have not been equally shared among trading nations. What is the reason for this and what is being done (if anything) to try and change it?
